Seattle, the largest city in the Pacific Northwest and high-tech metropolis for companies like Microsoft and Amazon.com, is also a popular port of call.  It’s official nickname is the Emerald City and it is the birthplace of grunge music, Starbucks, and Tully’s Coffee.

Seattle is home to the University of Washington and Washington Huskies and Seattle University.  Seattle is especially easy to navigate on foot.  Metro Transit can assist for longer distances.   Visitors might start with Pike Place Market where boutiques, restaurants, food stands and shops abound in a nine-acre historic district. Starbucks was launched there and the original store still operates.

Also near Pike Place Market is Pier 59, home of the
Seattle Aquarium, Odyssey Maritime Discovery Center and the numerous shops, restaurants, and activities of Bell Street Pier.  Board an Argosy Cruise and sight see Puget Sound. The Waterfront is a superb location for spectacular Seattle sunsets. Cultural buffs might head to the Seattle Art Museum or catch a performance at Benaroya Hall  - a few blocks inland to the east.  Head along Pike to Third Avenue toward shoppers paradise, Westlake Center.  Or, continue up Pike and catch a theatrical production at the Paramount Theatre.

For more awesome views of the city, follow the waterfront north to the
Space Needle at the Seattle Center.  Here you’ll find Key Arena, Pacific Science Center and the IMAX Theater, the Experience Music Project, and the Children’s Museum. Seattle Center Fisher Pavilion and Seattle Center are where many of the city’s popular local and annual events are held -- Bumbershoot, the Bite of Seattle, and Independence Day celebrations.

A few blocks south of Pike’s Market is the renown
Elliot Bay BookstoreChinatown,  Qwest Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks, and Safeco Field of the Seattle Mariners

Seattle offers plenty of nightlife action, concerts, theatre, and entertainment.  Check the Seattle Guide for an event listing and book your tickets online.  You’ll also find a comprehensive listing to hotels, travel accomodations, services, apartments, and real estate.  Make sure to take advantage of the hotel rebate and apartment finder rebate.
